Massanutten Ski Patrol
Giving in More Ways Than One
At Massanutten, the word "volunteering" takes
on a new meaning. Throughout the long day,
which begins before the slopes open and ends
after the slopes are closed, patrollers perform
many duties which often go unrecognized. For
instance, when accidents occur, patrollers must
respond by providing emergency care and
off-slope transport to the injured skier. In
addition to the many hours of service
contributed to the mountain to keep the slopes
safe, patrollers also help with the Massanutten
Adaptive Ski School. Several members of the
Massanutten Ski Patrol participate as volunteer
instructors. The Patrol also supplies necessary
manpower at the annual Independence Cup -
Adaptive Ski Race. If that isn't enough, they
have also been more than generous making the
Patrol House, which provides affordable
overnight accommodations, available to some
groups of adaptive skiers. Special thanks to all
the members of the Massanutten Ski Patrol for
their support and service, making adaptive
skiing at the mountain a safe, quality
experience.
