Special Love for Children with Cancer

Each winter "Special Love," an organization which serves teens and young adults who have survived cancer, brings campers together for a Winter Weekend to go skiing or riding at Bryce Ski Resort. For the past three years, Mark Andrews, Director of Massanutten Adaptive Snow Sports has volunteered to provide instruction and support to the three-track skiers who attend this special winter weekend. According to Andrews, "For some of the young people who attend this once-a-year event, it is the only time they get to enjoy the many benefits of being on the slopes -- skiing or riding. The emphasis of the Special Love Winter Weekend is different than what takes place at most programs. It is an important event for all who attend -- a time to make new friends and to rekindle friendships from the years past. Three-tracking, and just spending time socializing with the teens is something I look forward to. The Special Love Winter Weekend is one of the highlights of my winter for for the past several years."
